Ickle Bubba Stomp Luxe Review- is it worth buying?

When people told me that buying a pushchair was like buying a car, they couldn’t have been more right. I found the process of selecting the right pushchair a mixture of exciting, surreal and stressful. As a first time mum, I was amazed at the drastic price range that could have seen us spend well over £1000 which seemed astonishing.

I looked at a variety of different brands and even went down to a baby show to see all of the offerings in real life but, Ickle Bubba stood out as a great option. The pushchairs looked durable, stylish and the price point wasn’t going to break the bank plus, the brand seemed reputable.

After trialling the pushchair in real life, we decided to go for it. It glided really nicely and I loved the stylish black and bronze colourway although, many other options are available so you can customise to your taste.

Our bundle was great value for money, it included the Stomp Luxe pushchair, the pushchair seat unit, carry cot, the Stratus i-Size car seat, ISOFIX base, sunshades, changing rucksack and mat and a footwarmer, seat liner, pushchair apron and rain cover.

I was particularly sold on the fact that this bundle also included a bedside crib along with a mattress and cover.

My Thoughts

Stomp Luxe Pushchair

For under £800 this bundle is great value for money. I love how stylish the pushchair looks and the colourway looked even more striking in real life. The system is easy to assemble and feels sturdy particularly because of the wheels which I have been really impressed by. They’ve been great during moments when the ground has been uneven and rocky. It was also easy to switch the carry cot attachment to the pushchair and I really like how comfortable Azaiah looks in this.

I can’t quite believe he’s out of the carrycot (time really does go very quick), but it’s great that he can now observe and take in his surroundings. It’s also meant that I can interact with him more when we’re out and about. The pushchair reclines with ease however, I do wish that the straps adjusted better as they do feel quite loose.

The pushchair has great qualities but it does come undone when I try to fold it away to put in the car. This has been quite frustrating as I would expect it to remain secure, when it does unclip it can hurt so just beware of this. Overall, I am really happy with the pushchair and feel it’s a good option if you’re shopping on more of a budget.

Stratus Car Seat

The one thing however that I was incredibly unhappy with was the Stratus car seat. I felt that something wasn’t right from the moment I put Azaiah in this as a newborn. His chin was to his chest and his body seemed unsupported, I felt as if he needed to be sitting back more but instead was sitting too far forward.

I was really worried that this was affecting his breathing and he didn’t like being placed in the car seat at all. The straps were sitting half way down his arms instead of near his shoulder which meant that he wasn’t secure.

Myself and family members tried to amend this but it seems to be the way this seat is designed. The car seat also felt incredibly heavy to carry making it difficult to transport Azaiah from the car to the house.

Now that I’ve tried other car seats I now realise that this one was just very bulky and weighty, Azaiah also looks far more supported in other options we’ve sat him in.

After doing some research online, I found a plethora of other concerned parents who had the same complaints as I did. This rang even more alarm bells and I decided that I wasn’t happy putting my baby in this car seat anymore so I invested in a new one.

Bed side crib

The bed side crib was a really handy addition to the bundle and meant that we didn’t need to worry about ticking this off the list. I’ve been really pleased with this, it’s sleek, sturdy and can be folded down easily for travelling.
